8th Grade science is studying chemical and exothermic reactions.

Congratulations to our October students of the month! These students demonstrated the BRAVE character trait of ACCOUNTABILITY.

🪨🍬 6th grade science took a sweet trip through the rock cycle with Airheads in "Airhead Valley"! Starting as igneous rocks, students ripped up their Airheads to create "sediment," compacted and cemented it into sedimentary rocks, then added heat to transform them into metamorphic rocks! Hands-on (and tasty) science at its best! 🔥

🔍 This week in 8th grade ELA, our students turned into detectives! They completed a crime scene inferencing activity, analyzing evidence across 7 stations to piece together the story of a crime. This hands-on experience ties perfectly into our suspenseful short story unit, building those critical thinking and narrative skills. 🕵️♂️📚

Our students had their last Special Olympics Kansas Unified Basketball games this past weekend. Taylor, Emily, Crystal and Cece received Gold. Aries received Silver. Way to go Braves!

On October 23rd, the CMS Tiblow Singers traveled to Tonganoxie to participate in the Frontier League Music Festival. Our students had the opportunity to perform and rehearse alongside talented singers from Tonganoxie, Baldwin, and Eudora Middle Schools. After performing as a group, all choirs joined together under the guidance of a local clinician, creating an unforgettable musical experience. Our students performed exceptionally well and made us proud!

CMS Diversity Ambassadors & STUCO are partnering together on Treats for Troops this year! Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops is a Halloween Candy collection program where local businesses and organizations register to collect excess Halloween candy, and CMS is officially a collection site! Diversity Ambassador & STUCO representatives will be at both entrances of the school, collecting candy donations, on the Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday following Halloween (11/04 - 11/06). We invite EVERYONE in the district to donate to this sweet cause, so our service members around the world get a little treat from "back home."

Team 6-1 students went to Junior Achievement of Great Kansas City's BizTown last Thursday! Students were able to become a JA BizTown citizen and assume a job in one of 20 different businesses. Students got to experience economics first-hand by producing and/or selling products, receiving a paycheck, working as a member of a business team, repaying a business loan, shopping, and managing a personal bank account.
